Mykola Tomenko: One can not permit Depredation of Museums under the Pretext of Creation of "Mystetsky Arsenal"
"Establishment of "Mystetsky Arsenal" museum complex should not liquidate active museums", - stated Mykola Tomenko, Vice-Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, at the today´s briefing at the Parliament.
M.Tomenko stated that "unfortunately, all humanitarian and culturological initiatives of the President are turned by his officials into the profanation of Ukrainian culture, and can even create problems for this culture".
As it is known, the idea of establishing a cultural-artistic and museum complex "Mystetsky Arsenal" envisaged the necessity of uniting one´s efforts, especially those of businessmen and sponsors, to create a complex of the European standards. It is in this form that the concept was presented by Viktor Yushchenko in 2005. However, according to M.Tomenko, the concept transformed into "a traditional government-financed construction for the requirements of which more and more State funds are being allocated annually, despite a great number of scandals and mutual reproaches".
The Vice-Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine stressed that advisors and assistants of the Minister of Culture come to the museums, select the most precious exhibits and demand that they be transferred to the future collection of "Mystetsky Arsenal".
Therefore, the Vice-Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine deems necessary to cease the present-day "robbery" of museums and hold expert council concerning functioning of "Mystetsky Arsenal" and ways to fill its future exhibits.
